PRIORITIES

“Every student deserves to feel safe, supported, and valued — with the opportunities and resources they need to succeed.”

Putting Students First

Lizbeth Renova is running for Montebello Unified School District Board, District 2, with a commitment to ensuring every student has access to a quality education and the opportunity to succeed.

Her priorities are centered on safe schools, strong academic programs, responsible use of public resources, and making sure students, families, and educators have the support they need.

Strengthen Academics & Prepare Students for the Future

Lizbeth will focus on improving academic achievement while giving students more opportunities to prepare for college, careers, and the future. She will support:

  • Strong academic programs focused on improving student achievement.
  • College and career pathways that give students options before and after graduation.
  • Career technical education and skilled trades opportunities that connect classroom learning with real-world skills.
  • Programs and resources that help students who are struggling get back on track.
  • Investments that help close achievement gaps in math and reading.
  • Educational opportunities that challenge students, improve test scores and GPAs, and build strong communication skills for success.

Keep Our Students Safe

As a mother of three MUSD students, Lizbeth understands that nothing is more important than protecting our children. She will work to:

  • Strengthen campus security and continually evaluate how we can better protect students and staff.
  • Improve emergency communication so parents and families receive accurate and timely information when incidents occur.
  • Ensure every campus has strong, regularly reviewed emergency preparedness and response plans.
  • Support appropriate training and coordination among teachers, staff, administrators, and public safety partners.
  • Address safety concerns before they become emergencies and make sure students feel safe, supported, and welcomed at school.
  • Implement a Multi-Tiered System of Support to ensure we are providing mental health services, counselors, and psychologists to facilitate support for all students.

Support Every Student

Early childhood education and special education have been at the heart of Lizbeth’s lifework. She understands that investing in children early and ensuring students with special needs receive the support and resources they deserve can build a strong foundation for lifelong learning and success. As a Board Member, Lizbeth will:

  • Protect and strengthen Early Head Start and early childhood education programs.
  • Ensure funding intended for early education reaches the children, classrooms, and families it was meant to serve.
  • Advocate for strong Special Education programs and services.
  • Fight for appropriate staffing, resources, and support for students with disabilities.
  • Listen to parents and families when decisions are made about programs affecting their children.

Invest in Our Teachers, Classrooms & Schools

Lizbeth has spent almost 20 years working in education. She knows firsthand that teachers and school staff cannot be expected to do more with less year after year. She will advocate for:

  • The resources and support that teachers, classified employees, administrators, and school staff need.
  • Functional, modern classrooms that provide students with an environment where they can learn.
  • Reliable heating and air-conditioning systems.
  • Safe and well-maintained school facilities, athletic facilities, and infrastructure.
  • Responsible long-term planning for campus repairs and improvements.
  • A fair distribution of District resources so District 2 schools receive the attention and investment they deserve.
